Damyang Metasequoia Road: A Photo Walk, Ticket Tips and Getting There

Damyang's Metasequoia-lined Road is a walk to build around three scenes: the long avenue of trunks, a pond edged by trees, and a playful garden with dinosaur sculptures. It suits a slower sightseeing stop, with time to pause for photographs instead of rushing to a summit. For an October outing, plan around an 18:00 closing time—and check the local voucher offered with your admission ticket.

Begin with the view down the avenue

The attraction's strongest composition is simple: stand to one side, look along the trunks, and let the narrowing path lead your eye into the distance. In the photograph above, branches meet overhead while sunlight breaks across the ground. Try a wide view first, then look for a closer frame of bark, leaves and shadows. Keep the walking route clear while taking pictures.

These are reference photographs from the FAMTIMES feature, not a live foliage report. They show green canopies as well as trees beginning to turn yellow. Do not plan around a promised peak-color date based on these images alone. Check recent local conditions if autumn color is your main reason for traveling.

Make room for the pond and garden

The waterside scene gives you a different photograph: open sky and a low foreground, with the forest rising behind. There is no need to cross the stones to appreciate it. If you are traveling with a stroller or have difficulty with uneven surfaces, ask at the entrance about the most suitable route; the photographs alone cannot establish step-free access throughout.

For a family visit, turn the garden into a small spotting activity: find the dinosaur, compare the windmills, and look at the shapes of the leaves. Follow on-site signs around the pond and displays. Our suggested sequence is avenue first, pond second, then the garden if everyone still has energy; it is an editorial suggestion, not an official timed course.

Hours, holiday checks and the ticket voucher

Damyang County's admission guide lists 09:00–18:00 and the prices above. Its children's rate is ₩1,000, which differs from older tourism listings. The county also announced a voucher scheme starting March 21, 2026: the admission amount is returned in Damyang Love gift certificates for participating businesses in the county. Ask the ticket desk about current redemption conditions before budgeting for it; this is a local shopping voucher, not a cash refund.

Korea Tourism Organization's English guide lists closures on the actual days of Seollal and Chuseok. Holiday information varies between listings, so confirm with 061-380-3149 before a holiday trip rather than assuming year-round opening. Arrive with enough time to walk before closing.

Plan the last leg and the return

Save the Korean name and street address above for your map or taxi driver. The county transport guide provides bus timetables and a “담양군 택시” taxi tab; it lists Damyang Taxi at 061-381-3211. If you arrive at Damyang Bus Terminal, a taxi is an option to ask about for the final leg. Confirm the fare and return pickup locally. We have not verified a direct bus stop-to-entrance itinerary, so check your route and return departure before setting out.

See what lies beyond the tree tunnel

The full FAMTIMES feature adds photographs of the entrance, animal murals and petrified-wood displays, plus the story of how this planted roadside landscape developed. Use it to decide which corners you want to look for on your visit.
